Description

This aromatic spice mixture by Pleamle makes for great cakes and breads or yeast breads. 

The traditional Reindling cake is baked in a bundt cake and is served in Carinthia on special holidays such as Easter, Christmas or weddings.

Carinthian Reindling Recipe from Harry Albel:

Ingredients:

  • 540ml milk 
  • 180g butter 
  • 120g yeast 
  • 1000g flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 220g granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Pleamle Reindling spice,
  • rum 
  • walnuts, chopped

Preparation: 

  1. Mix the yeast and 1/3 of the warm milk. Add the flour to form a thicker dough.
  2. Dust the dough with flour, and cover about 15 minutes.
  3. Allow to rest at room temperature until the bread reaches double its volume.
  4. Mix the eggs and the rest of the milk with the melted butter.
  5. Mix well into the flour mixture, then cover and allow to rise.
  6. Then roll out the dough into a rectangle, and brush with melted butter.
  7. Spread walnuts over the dough, then sprinkle with sugar and Reindling spice.
  8. Shape into a roll and put the dough into a bundt pan or springform pan.
  9. Let rise again, then bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 30 minutes. Bake and let cool.
