Description

The Alpe-Adria-Trail is a wonderful expedition through Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

This hiking guide by the authors Astrid Christ and Martin Marktl guides you through this varied, fascinating hike with lots of information and offers:

  • Detailed directions
  • Detailed information about all sights
  • Tips on rest stops
  • Information about transport and shopping

The 650-kilometer trail starts at the foot of the Grossglockner and meanders for three weeks through the beautiful scenery of the Carinthian mountains and lakes.

In the second section, the Alpe Adria Trail roams the Slovenian Limestone Alps, and in the third part it leads across the vineyards of Friuli to the Mediterranean coast near Trieste. These two sections can be mastered in about 14 days.

The Alpe Adria Trail offers hikers a varied program: from the glacial ice and numerous three-thousanders of the Tauern group, over the rolling hills of the Nock Mountains to a completely new, turquoise-coloured world of the Soca River (Isonzo). This river leads the hiker first wild and stormy, later gently flowing through impressive limestone formations of the Triglav National Park and the vineyards of northern Italy.

After about 35 days and 23,000 vertical meters in the ascent waiting for the jump in the waters of the Adriatic - an indescribable feeling!

The authors Astrid Christ and Martin Marktl know the region from childhood and in 2012 were the first to complete the Alpe-Adria-Trail in its total length.
